From a young age, I was passionate about fitness and bodybuilding. In my early 20s, I competed in bodybuilding and proudly placed 6th in the IFBB Junior South African Nationals. However, like many people, life took its toll, and I neglected my health. I gained weight and found myself out of shape, but that didn’t stop me from making a comeback. Through hard work, discipline, and significant lifestyle changes, I turned my life around and got my body and health back on track.

After spending years in IT, I made the choice to move into health & fitness. The final nail in the coffin that led me to my career change was driven by all my previous employers not taking my disability (epilepsy) seriously and treating me as if nothing was wrong. Epilepsy medication possesses many side effects that affect every person differently in different ways, and my previous employers had absolutely no knowledge of this. This led to my mental health state going way off the charts and into depression, me neglecting myself and becoming overweight, drinking excessive alcohol, Thus putting my life at risk. I have now decided I will help people from what I have learned.

I’m no stranger to the struggles of losing weight and getting fit. I’ve been overweight and transformed myself into a fitter, healthier version of me. What better way to understand the challenges clients face than having lived through it myself?

In addition to overcoming my personal fitness struggles, I’ve also faced serious health challenges. I survived meningitis, which unfortunately left me with epilepsy. My condition is now under control thanks to medication, but my commitment to a healthier lifestyle plays a huge role in keeping me seizure-free. Due to the side effects of my medication, I have to train harder and eat stricter to manage the excess weight gain it can cause. This experience has deepened my understanding of how to overcome adversity and use fitness as a tool for managing challenges.

This personal journey is something I bring to my training sessions, helping clients push through their own struggles.
